Last year was a good year for Real Estate in Pinellas County.  It looks like 2017 is going to be a continuance of that trend.  If you are thinking about buying or selling, now is the time.

Lawrence Yun, Chief Economist of the National Association of Realtors says “As we know, many of Pinellas County homeowners are from out of state. What happens in other parts of our nation has an impact on our own real estate market”.  Yun went on to say that he sees a “net positive” for the housing sector in Pinellas.  Markets are trending strong all over the nation.  This is great news for Sellers, Buyers and Real Estate professionals!

Yun reports that “Home sales for 2016 were the best since 2006, and are expected to grow by 2% further and 4% more by 2018.  In 2017, median home prices are expected to increase by 4% due to a gradually expanding economy, increasing employment rates, and 30 year fixed mortgage rates steadily rising from about 3.8% in the 1st  quarter to around 4.4% – 4.5% by the 4th quarter”.

What does this mean for home sellers?  As homeowners from other states sell their homes, many will want to move to warmer climates. Pinellas County is a popular relocation area with much to offer.  Buyers too should look at this trend, knowing that there will be a lot of demand, they should start their home search sooner than later and, find a Realtor with a proven “track record”.   Both sellers and buyers should take a look at a Realtor’s past clients’ testimonials on their website. A satisfied client is the best way to determine what your experience will be with that Realtor.

Sellers need a Realtor who markets not only locally, but has a strong presence in out of state marketing. A strong Real Estate professional with a good marketing strategy, along with knowledge of this area, can make the sale of your home a more profitable experience. Buyers should also consider their Realtor’s knowledge of the area, assuring that they will get advice based on experience, when looking for a new home.

The best advice is to make sure you have a Real Estate professional with knowledge of the area, experience working with sellers and buyers, one who will listen and expertly guide you throughout the process.
