New Lesbian Literary Event Seeks Authors

| September 28, 2017

Gulfport Public Library’s LGBTQ Resource Center announces the first ReadOut event, a weekend of lesbian literature, headlined by Keynote Speaker Elizabeth Sims on Saturday, February 17, 2018. Events will take place all weekend, along with other lesbian-focused events taking place during the week leading up to it.

Following the keynote presentation, 15 authors will have the opportunity to introduce themselves to the community and read from their work. All published authors, including “indie” and self-published authors, are invited to apply. There will also be a vendor room for authors to sell their books.

Sims’ novels include the Lambda Award-winning Lillian Byrd crime series and the Rita Farmer mystery series. She is a Contributing Editor for Writer’s Digest magazine, and author of You’ve Got a Book in You: A Stress-Free Guide to Writing the Book of Your Dreams.

Authors who wish to apply to read following Sims’ presentation should apply online by November 10, 2017. Authors will be notified of acceptance no later than November 30. Because a large number of applications are expected, the resource center is asking interested authors to include a sample reading with their application. For information, authors may contact Alison Solomon at
