I was really excited to attend the recent Tammy Hatch show as the Cornerstone Café opened for the season. Everything you’ve heard is true. Yes, she has a voice that will remind you of Janis Joplin, Bonnie Raitt, and Mellissa Etheridge, but she’s made it her own voice. It comes from her heart, and that’s where it counts. The season has in store for you more of the same quality entertainment at a price that can’t be beat (free if you’re broke), a beautiful setting of harmony free from bigotry,  great food, and a place to gather with old friends and new friends alike. Give yourself a break from the usual club scene with expensive drinks and cover charges and try the Cornerstone Café’. Take my word for it!

Everything was simply perfect for the opening. You will find that no matter what your orientation, you will feel welcomed, at home, with kindred spirits looking for friendship, in a place that is safe, and non-judgmental. There were approximately 30 women there and a small group of TG gals (I only mention them to point out that all are truly welcome and made to feel wanted). It was all so comfortable and relaxed that you can’t help but have a great time! Come alone, bring your partner, ride your motorcycle, come dressed as you are… it’s all good. And, it sits on several acres of grassland perfect for setting down a blanket and watching the stars fly by. The night I was there, the cooks went at it again with an Old Fashion Cookout fit for a queen. Menu items included Homemade Hamburgers, Italian Sausage, Beef Sausage & Grilled Chicken Wings, side dishes and dessert. Everything was homemade including the condiments!

If you’re looking for a church to call home, you’re already there. Reverend Joyce Stone is a gifted preacher (without being “preachy”), who can help you get through troubled times, or simply awaken you to the beauty that already surrounds you and exists in you.  The sense of community permeates everyone. Please give yourself a break and come out to the next gathering. I give my personal guarantee that you’ll be glad you did.
