Sarasota — M. Ellen (Melon) Dash, owner of Miracle Swimming Institute of Sarasota, FL has received an award by aquatics industry trade publication, Aquatics International as one of its “Power 25″ winners of 2010.

Dash developed a revolutionary way to teach swimming to adults and children who are afraid in water in 1983. She is author of Conquer Your Fear of Water and produced a how-to DVD in 1999. Nearly four thousand students since her school’s inception have learned to save their lives in deep water, which she asserts is the basic and most important definition of knowing how to swim. Her international instructor training program has taught thirty instructors from Thailand to the U.S. to London how to be successful with afraid students. Her goal is to teach all instructors worldwide. “The end of drowning is possible,” she affirms.
 
Miracle Swimming Institute holds classes in Sarasota and Tampa FL, Colorado, California, Virginia, Texas, Montana, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. The Miracle Swimming program is certified by the State of Florida. This week in Sarasota, Dash will teach two sold-out trainings: a Beginning class for adults and an instructor training. This is Dash’s second naming to the “Power 25″ in five years.
